Build a Raspberry Pi Security Camera Network

Build a Raspberry Pi Security Camera Network

In this project I am going to make a Raspberry Pi security camera simply using the standard Pi camera such as the one I used in the time-lapse tutorial.

This is a cost effective way of getting a security camera up and running that you can view over the network and also have it so it is motion activated! So let’s get to it.

Pi Zero + Camera quality and stats

Pi Zero + Camera quality and stats

My plan is to build the Pi Zero in a dummy dome, but unfortunately the Pi3 doesn't fit and i could probably save 500% using Pi Zero's with camera compared to Pi3's with camera's.
These Pi Zero's will only be used as network security camera's with motion detection. No other purpose.

I wonder whether it is possible to create a security camera (actually multiple in a network) with a Pi Zero.
If anyone of you already build this and running stable, does it consume loads of CPU and RAM (since Pi Zero is pretty poor on this compared to Pi3)??
Can it handle all the video compression stuff, etc.?
What about heating, any issues?
Any other issues you ran into?

If there are already threads on this forum (i couldn't find it) that explains how to build this with Pi Zero i would be grateful when you post it here.

To Admins: what about dedicated forum categories for each Pi model? (Pi1, Pi2, Pi3, Pi Zero, etc) makes easy searching.
